Update make Pogo UWP work again on Windows phones
Pokemon Go is not officially available on Windows phones, but fortunately, a group of skilled developers released the so-called PoGo UWP app that makes it possible for users to play the game on devices powered by Microsoft’s mobile operating system.
Since it’s an unofficial port of Pokemon Go on Windows phones, PoGo UWP has so far suffered from every single API update that Niantic released, and the most recent one that went live in September broken down the game once again.
Fortunately, an update that was released today brings PoGo UWP back to life, so Windows phone owners can play Pokemon Go as well, although the risk of getting banned for using an unofficial port still exists.
What’s important to know, however, is that players need to have the latest version of PoGo UWP, which comes not only with updates to work with the newest API, but also with improvements for the game itself.
Known issues in this version
There are also some release notes that everyone should have a look at, as the developing team explains that screen may flicker if proximity sensor is covered even if the game’s battery saver feature is disabled. Additionally, PTC login may fail and cause the app to crash and the captcha feature is missing, which according to developers “means that this version is not 100 percent safe.”
“This release is a quick update to API code to give you something to play with. After this long break we may need some time to get back on track and resume development, so, please, have some patience,” the team explained on GitHub, where you can also find all the necessary files to get the game up and running on your Windows phone as well.
The version that you must be running is 1.0.50, so make sure you update PoGo UWP on your Windows phone to get in line with the latest Niantic API update for the original Pokemon Go app.
