The update is now available in South Korea
According to LG, the update is now pushed to G5 units in South Korea, but it will expand to other countries in the coming weeks. Those who own the smartphone should receive notifications about the availability of the Nougat update.
“While LG G5 owners in Korea are the first to receive the OS upgrade, they will be followed by customers in the Americas, Asia and other markets in the weeks to come,” LG states.
LG also highlights the fact that it's the first company after Google to provide an Android 7.0 Nougat update to a smartphone running Android Marshmallow.
As expected, the Android 7.0 Nougat update brings a wide range of new features that are supposed to enhance user experience and streamline navigation for G5 owners.
Among the many new features introduced, LG mentions the search actions that can now be started inside user-installed apps and built-in apps using the new In Apps feature included in the Android 7.0 Nougat.
Then, there's the new Multi-window feature that allows LG G5 users to switch between apps seamlessly by double tapping or running two apps side by side. Lots of customized settings and better notifications will be added to, so users will ultimately become “more productive with less effort.”
The rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat for the LG G5 could be over by the end of the year, but depending on your location you might get it sooner or later.
The G5 will be the only LG smartphone powered by Android 7.0 Nougat available in Europe, as the South Korean company previously confirmed it will not bring the V20 in this region.
